Today I wanted to share with you my blogging tips, I love reading these posts so I thought why not make one of my own. I know I haven’t been blogging for a super long time but in the short period I have I’ve learnt so much, and I wanted to share it with any of you who are thinking of starting a blog, already have a blog but want some advice or those of you just having a casual read. Okay let’s get straight into it shall we..
Super corny I know but this is really important. In the world there is not one person just like you and that’s what makes you special. Don’t hide yourself because you’re trying to be like someone else. People will love what you write because they see your personality shining through!!
Get in the mood to write
I have to be in the right head space to want to sit down and write. I bought a desk recently and I love sitting down and being surrounded in a creative space, it really helps me focus and be more inspired while writing, editing, planning etc. However you can turn anywhere into a blogging space as long as you are comfortable and relaxed. I also like to have some snacks and water at the ready because there’s nothing worse than being in the zone and then having to get up to get a drink. I personally don’t have music on while I’m blogging but I know that some people can only concentrate when there’s music, so if that’s you then I’d recommend making a blogging playlist, this way every time you sit down to work on your blog you have the same music going and hopefully over time you’ll associate this music with blogging and you’ll be more focused and inspired to write. There are countless things you can do to get in the mood to write, it’s all about finding what works for you.
Focus on the people already reading
It’s easy to get caught up in the numbers side of blogging. I’ve learnt that blogging isn’t totally about getting more and more followers, it’s about the people already there. Obviously everyone wants their blogging community to expand and it is important to work on getting your blog out there in the world, but the readers you already have are more important because they’re already there to support you. Don’t get caught up in the numbers game, if you focus on the readers you have now and produce good content for them, more people will come. This way you’re building a strong and happy community full of people who genuinely love what you write.
Talk to other bloggers
One of my favourite parts of blogging is talking to other bloggers. I’ve already spoken to several amazing people who are so lovely and I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to talk to them if I hadn’t started my blog. I love talking to other bloggers because they love the same things I do so we already have stuff in common and they live all around the world (which i think is incredible). Don’t waste the opportunity to meet new people because you’re scared to send someone a message. Just leave a comment on their blog or dm them on instagram and say that you love their blog, just reach out. I promise it’s worth it.
Do it because you love it
Don’t start a blog to be famous or to make heaps of money and travel all around the world while getting free products delivered right to your post box, because unfortunately that’s not how it works. One day you could be jet setting to Bora bora to do a photo shoot for your blog, but to get there takes a lot of hardwork and dedication to your blog so dont give up on that dream just dont blog purley to go to bora bora (or what not) do it because you love to write (hopefully that made sense). Blogging takes heaps of effort and time, and if you don’t truly love doing it then the chances of you giving up are pretty high. If you love blogging and do put in the time and effort then who knows where your blog could lead you?! If you want to start a blog don’t hesitate just give it a shot, whats the worse that could happen.
Those were 5 of my tips for blogging, I really hope you enjoyed reading. Let me know in the comments what’s your #1 blogging tip. Love you all so so much
Love Sophie xx
