NYX Liquid Suede ~ Sandstorm Review

When I first saw that NYX was available here in Australia I did a little happy dance and then went on the hunt for Sandstorm asap. I’d seen this shade floating around the beauty world and knew I would love it, I definitely reach for nude shades over bolder colours and have been loving more cool toned brown nudes for a while now. I’ve worn it a few times now and I’ve figured out the ups and downs of this particular colour and the formula of the liquid suede lipsticks, so if you’ve had your eye on these lipsticks but still aren’t sure I’ll give you all the details.

In the bottle the lipstick is a more watery consistency, it isn’t very thick which I like because it doesn’t apply in a thick and sticky layer on the lips. I find that I can get away with one swipe and its opaque but depending on how you apply the lipstick you may need to go over it a few times.

This is a really comfortable liquid lipstick to wear, it isn’t too drying and it doesn’t crack while you’re talking. I do find however that the lipstick inside of my lips can go into little clumps which can be annoying but when you consider how cheap they are I’d expect a few downfalls. Also if you plan to put on multiple layers it can do the same sort of thing and clump up in sections. It’s not too noticeable and is easily fixed, plus this lipstick lasts pretty well so you won’t need to reapply constantly.

I’m obsessed with the colour!! on the NYX website they say it’s a true nude but I’d say it leans more on the cooler brown toned side of nude, it can still easily be worn as an everyday colour though. While I do love the colour I find it can easily wash me out so I’d recommend adding a little bronzer to warm up your complexion.

This lipstick typically it lasts about 4-5 hours without eating, probably 2-3 hours if I was eating a lot. I find these liquid lipsticks never fully dry, they still transfer a bit and come off pretty easily with makeup remover or if you are eating a lot. For some people this can be a big negative however I prefer it as it doesn’t dry my lips out to the point of no return and at night I can get it off easily without using all my makeup remover in the process. It all depends on what you prefer to wear. If you do like a more long-lasting lipstick I’d recommend Nyx Lip Lingerie liquid lipsticks, I find they have a dryer and longer lasting finish.

If you have had your eye on these lipsticks I’d give them a go, they have so many bright and fun colours as well as the more subtle neutral colours so you’ll definitely find one you like.
