My Skincare Routine

Today I though I would share with you my simple but still effective skincare routine. I try my hardest to do this everyday but let’s be real sometimes I’m too tired, I forget or I’m just too plain lazy, but I do try to do this in order to help keep my skin clean and clear.

Lately I’ve been getting a lot more spots than I usually do, at the end of June my whole forehead had broken out really badly and it made me a bit self-conscious as it was noticeable without foundation and it just looked cakey and dry with foundation, if you have to deal with this then I totally feel you. By taking 10-15 minutes in the morning and evenings I’ve managed to clear my skin up and today I though I would share with you what worked for me in the hopes that it will help some of you as well.

Step 1 – I use Garnier Micellar Water to remove any make up from throughout the day. I just put some onto a makeup remover pad and wipe away the majority of the makeup. I absolutely love this product as it is really gentle on my skin (which tends to be pretty sensitive) it’s also hypoallergenic so this is a good all around makeup remover/cleanser for all skin types.

Step 2 – I then use 1-2 pumps of The Body Shop Aloe Gentle Facial Wash* on my cleansing brush  and gently move the brush in circles around my face. The Facial Wash is made specifically for sensitive skin and leaves my skin feeling soft, refreshed and clean. My cleansing brush is honestly a life saver, it removes all the excess makeup that the Micellar Water didn’t and gently exfoliates the skin. If you plan on using something like this everyday it’s incredibly important that you don’t press down too hard because this can cause too much harsh exfoliation, just lightly place it on the skin and let the rotating brush do all the work, it’s that easy. *the exact cleanser I use is no longer available however they have bought out a new aloe gentle facial wash so don’t fret.

Step 3 – Once or twice a week I like to use the Formula 10.0.6 Deep Down Detox Ultra-Cleansing Mud Mask. I’ve been using this mask for over a year and it has never failed to leave my skin looking amazing. I just apply a medium-thick layer all over my face and leave it until it’s completely dry, then I wash it off. It is one of the best face masks I’ve ever tried so far, after a few uses I definitely notice the breakouts disappearing and my skin tone evening out again. One of my holy grail products for sure!  I always turn to it on a sunday evening when I feel like pampering myself before school the next day.

Step 4 – I use the Aloe Calming Toner from The Body shop  on a cotton pad and apply it all over my face to give my skin once final cleanse. Toner is really beneficial and often necessary for people with oily or acne-prone skin, it also minimises pores, helps to restore skin pH balance (which is altered after cleansing), refreshes skin and adds a layer of protection. It’s because of these reasons that toner is a must for me when ever I’m doing my skincare.

Step 5 – The final step is to moisturise, I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Eye Roll-On under my eyes and Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser all over my face. My skin tends to get oily so I like to use the simple hydrating light moisturiser as it soaks into my skin quickly and leaves it feeling soft and not sticky/oily (even if you have oily skin its important to use moisturiser so keep your skin hydrated). Even though I’m only 16 I like to use an under eye cream (mostly at night) to help with my dark circles and to help prevent wrinkles.

I really hope that you enjoyed getting a little more insight into my skincare routine! I would absolutely love to know what products you love!! I hope you’re having an amazing day ♥

Love Sophie xx

You’re going to look like you’re 25 when you’re 60 haha. I think we have the same skin but I never used one of those brushes because they look like a floor buffer, kind of freaks me out. Maybe I should though! Great post as usual 😊

Haha if only it’s possible to have skin that never ages. The brush also kind of freaked me out too but everyone was raving about the Clarisonic (unfortunately i don’t have $200 to spare) so the Olay one was my second option and honestly it’s so relaxing, it feels like a massage! I definitely recommend getting one it makes everything so easy (also super affordable from priceline). Xx ☺️

I’ve seen reviews for the Olay one (I also don’t have $200 to spend on a big toothbrush). Held it in my hands in the store then decided not to. but now I regret it 🙁

I never thought of it as a big toothbrush but now that’s all I can think of it as.. a giant face tooth brush haha. That’s a shame that you didn’t buy it before but if you ever pop into a store that sells it I would recommend getting it for sure xx
