My lips have been suffering these past few weeks, the weathers getting colder and I’ve been loving matte lipsticks which tend to leave my lips as dry as a desert. I’ve been putting more time in everyday to do some lip pampering and my lips have never looked better!! If you suffer from dry chapped lips or seem to find your matte lippies aren’t looking too fab when you put them on then these quick tips and products will leave your lips looking hydrated and super smooth.
Scrub Scrub Scrub
I’d never thought of exfoliating my lips until I walked into lush and saw their little pots of sugar lip scrub, I decided to try one out and I will never turn back to my lip scrub free days. I am obsessed with using my Bubblegum Lip Scrub from lush, it leaves my lips so smooth and my god it tastes amazing!! Yeah you heard me right, it tastes so good and I know this because once you’ve finished rubbing your lips all you have to do is lick it off, yep you can eat it (probably the best part of my morning). But if a lip scrub isn’t your thing you can just use a tooth-brush and gently scrub your lips with it (be careful though, I find that a tooth-brush is a lot more abrasive so be very gentle).
Hydrate
You can never have enough lip balm!! Trust me I’m a lip balm hoarder and for good reason, nothings better than hydrating your parched lips. Too many times I’ve gone to school and forgotten a lip balm and regretted it when my lips are dry and sore. After scrubbing your lips they’ll be even more likely to benefit from slathering on the balm which means your lips will be perfectly exfoliated and hydrated what more could you need…
Plump
This is optional but I’m in love with lip plumpers, I’ve always been a bit self-conscious about my lips so plumping glosses are a sure-fire way to give me a plumper pout and a kick of confidence!! The Dior Lip Maximiser is one of my faves because its gives more of a cool tingle rather than an intense burn which some other lip plumpers can have, it makes my lips noticeably more full and also hydrates them so I still get the benefits of a classic lip balm while plumping at the same time (although I’m a little lip balm obsessed so I tend to still put on a lip balm under the plumping gloss).
Those are steps I take to pamper my lips and prep them for my matte lipsticks. I’d love to hear what your favourite lip products are so do leave them in a comment.
This is such useful advice, my lips have suffered after getting badly sunburnt so this is a really helpful blog post.
I’m glad I could help xx
Great post Sophie! I also love those Lush lip scrubs, definitely a must for me because my lips also tend to get really dry, I have the same problem with matte lippies 🙁
