Whilst I love to socialize and be with my friends I do love a little me time. I’m a pretty outgoing person and love to talk so when I’m with people I spend about 99% of the time talking. However sometimes the last thing I feel like doing is being around people, it’s at this point I decide its time to just relax alone and chill. I feel like a lot of the time people think you only need to take a break when you’re physically tired, but even if you feel fine physically you might need a little break to mentally de-stress, trust me it’ll do you a world of good to take some time out for yourself every now and then.
I wanted to share with you all a few things I love to do when I feel like having some me time, do whatever works for you and just take some time out for you.
Have a Pamper Sesh
Nothing beats putting on a face mask while soaking in the tub with a lush bath bomb, ok maybe meeting Ryan Gosling is a little better, but a pamper sesh comes in a close second. It’s the perfect way to unwind and have some time alone while treating your skin to a pick me up. I love the Deep Down Detox face mask by Formula 10.0.6, its been my go to for a few years now so if you like a clay face mask but are on a budget give it a go. I’m desperate to try some new face masks but until I get some spare change I’ll stick to what works for me. Give yourself an hour or two of total relaxation and you’ll feel sparkly and new.
Watch Your Favourite Movie
Or 10 favourite movies. Probably my favourite way to wind down is to watch a few of my all time favourite movies, Angus Thongs and the Perfect Snogging, Aquamarine, Bride Wars… the list goes on. I love getting all cozy in bed with a bowl of ice-cream while watching a movie I’ve seen one too many times (or fifty too many times).
Do Some Baking
Lately I’ve been loving to bake, I’ve always been a pretty rubbish cook but I’m determined to get better. This is something you can do to have some fun and be a bit more creative and get yummy treats at the end, it’s a win-win. I’m desperate to cook some cupcakes, decorate them and make them look ahh-mazing.
Play Your Fave Music
When I’ve had a particularly stressful day and need some time to chill I put on one of my playlists. Sometimes I just lie in bed and listen or other times I dance around my room like a crazy person, either way I end up feeling like I got a little space from the world. Music puts me in the best mood, even if i only listen to a few songs I feel so much better.
Take Some Time To Read
I get so caught up in school and life that books get pushed to the side most of the time. I’ve always loved books and how you can escape by reading, it’s like you get put in the world of the book, ahh it’s amazing. Whenever I’m having a bit of a break I love to take out a book I’ve been wanting to read and just sit in silence and completely immerse myself in a book. It’s always guaranteed to make me feel like I’ve had some me time.
That’s just a few of an endless list of things you can do to have some me time, if you love to go for a run then jog away, if you prefer having a cuppa while reading a magazine then do that. Whatever it is you do to unwind and get some space make sure you do it regularly, everyone needs some time to chill no matter how much work you have to do. Put your mental health first and take some time for yourself.
