Dogs Are A Girls Best Friend

After blogging for almost a year (keep a look out for a blog post v soon about that) I realised that I have never properly introduced you to my dog & best friend Abbi, sure I’ve put a few pictures up here and there but most of you know nothing about her and I thought it was about time I change that.

We adopted Abbi from a shelter in january 2014 because myself and my parents are always about giving a dog a chance at a good life by rescuing them. She was born on October 31st 2013 and I still remember the day my mum was scrolling through the shelters list of dogs up for adoption and seeing Abbi (or Chanel as the shelter had named her) and calling us all in because she just knew that she was the puppy for us.

Before I was born my Mum and Dad had a Siberian Husky called Misty and a Lab X called Pepe, I grew up with them and they were like my sisters when I was little, they passed away at the age of 15 and we waited around 4-5 years before getting a new dog, much to my dismay as I absolutely love dogs and would adopt them all if I could, but it was well worth the wait because now we have Abbi.

Abbi’s a little crazy I’m not going to lie, she’s basically me in dog form, she loves to sleep and lay out in the sun but also loves to go mental and gets overly excited when people come over. She’s an expert poser, I’m not even kidding, when I get my camera out she knows and she goes into model mode, the amount of adorable pictures I have of her is insane.

She gives the best hugs ever, well I guess she just sits there while I hug her but she doesn’t run away or squirm out of my arms she just lets me hug her. I remember doing so much research before she came and I read that most dogs hate to be hugged because they feel threatened but if you hug them from early on then they won’t mind, so ever since she was a teeny tiny puppy I’ve been hugging her and now whenever I need a little (or big) hug she’s there.

One of my favourite memories was on the second day that she was with us I was watching Dr. Phil and she was so tiny that she was spread out on my lap while I was sitting on the chair and she fell asleep. It was the cutest thing ever and I couldn’t bare to wake her, even when I lost all feeling in my legs I just let her sleep. Now she’s a lot bigger but that doesn’t stop me from pulling her up onto my lap and giving her cuddles.

I could write about how much I love Abbi for days and if you want me to I definitely will. I’m thinking of doing some advice posts about getting a puppy and all the stuff that goes along with having a dog, if you would be interested in that then let me know but other than that I’ll be off.

She sounds so much like my dog, Frikk, who is also waay to big to sit on the lap, but I let him anyways. He loves a good cuddle! Abbi is absolutely gorgeous and I’m so happy to hear that you adoptet, such a great way to give a dog a better life! xx
